Rebranding of the Co-op

So the Co-op have rebranded. New look stores, new look website, new uniforms, new bags, new packaging on own branded products. The website is nice and easy to navigate through. Very simple and clear. Everything has been branded with the co-op logo either in blue on a white background or as a white logo on a blue background. They have simplified the whole look focusing on the logo as their brand image. Their packaging on their food is also simplified and less cluttered. The signage on the buildings has the basic logo on a white or grey background. An improvement from the old black Co-operative text on a green background. Overall they now have a stronger brand, but will their food prices be cheaper? I doubt it.

BT Website Design

I recently visited the BT website. BT offer broadband, landline and TV packages. They have quite a lot of products and services and the website is cluttered with many ads taking you to different parts of the website. There is a primary navigation and secondary navigation along the top, but there are plenty other links to other parts of the site throughout. BT are a big company and their services are vast, but I think their website could be a bit less complicated.

Flyerzone Flyers

I occasionally create flyers for Flyerzone. They are a design template website. If you have a business and need flyers, you can go to their site, choose a suitable design, add your details and then get them printed. They also have templates for posters, business cards, letterheads, compliment slips and leaflets. They have a fast print turnaround time and their prices are quite cheap.

Sky TV Website Design

I recently looked at the website for Sky . It is a punchy website with lots of large images. Sky offer TV, broadband and mobile deals and their website is quite clear and uncomplicated. There are large images advertising each product or service that they offer. There is a small navigation bar along the top of the page that directs you to all their services. Overall it is a sexy website that offers glamorous packages. It doesn't disappoint.

New pages added to Watson Consultancy Website Design

Over the last couple of days, I've been updating my Watson Consultancy website. I've added a secondary navigation bar in the "design services" section. In total I've added 11 new pages including pages on: flyers, logos, leaflets, brochures, signage, packaging, banners, advertising, invites, business cards and letterheads, all with new images and text.

TalkTalk Website Design

I recently had a look at the talktalk website. I was not impressed with it really. The overall branding is quite weak and could be better. The site is designed on a white background and doesn't really stand out. The navigation along the top could be bolder and the large image in the middle of the page doesn't really sell their products well. Quite often you need to scroll past the big image to get to the main content. Talktalk offer broadband, email and mobile network services. I understand that they offer cheaper products than BT and Sky, but that doesn't mean that their website should look cheap too!

Scotland Outdoors Magazine

I did some work, a few months ago, for Scotland Outdoors magazine. They are a magazine about outdoor life in Scotland. Their website is very clear and easy to use. The slideshow on the homepage is a little large for my liking, as it pushes some of the content down the page below it, but it works well. The top navigation has a drop down feature that reveals more content. Their articles on cycling, hillwalking, snowsports, canoeing etc are quite interesting, although I am a hillwalker myself, so I might be biased. Overall, a good website for an interesting magazine.

Plusnet Website

I recently visited the Plusnet website. The site is quite easy to navigate with a drop-down nav bar along the top. There is a medium sized slide show of promotional images in the centre of the page that is not too big or overpowering. There deals on broadband and phone packages are clearly defined and easy to find. Overall a good clear website.

EE Website

Everything Everywhere, also known as EE, now have a decent website. When Orange and T-Mobile merged to become EE they didn't have a decent website for quite a while. Now they have a good clear site that is easy to navigate. With large text and images, it is clearly built to embrace their mobile and tablet web traffic. They are a mobile network that sells phone and tablet contracts. I found the website very easy to use and find that it isn't too overwhelming, which it could have been given their diverse range of products and plans.

First Direct Branding

I've always liked the branding of First Direct. They are an online and telephone bank. They haven't changed their logo or branding for over 20 years and for me that is a good thing.
With their emphasis on clear typeography, using the Helvetica font, they manage to convey a solid outward appearance. Although they change the website regularly. They ran an interactive home page over Christmas, where customers could create their own message over a frosted effect on the home page. Overall, they are a no-nonsense bank with a no-nonsense brand.

Flyers

I designed this flyer a while ago for The Real Firewood Company. The Real Firewood Company supply Kiln Dried Firewood for wood burning stoves and traditional fireplaces, but they have recently diversified into selling coal. I did this flyer to promote their coal side of the business.

Photoshop Render of a See-Saw with coins

Another accountancy related design. For this one, I created the shapes in Adobe Illustrator and then added the shadows and wood effect in Photoshop.

Photoshop Rendering of Accountancy Design

I recently designed this graphic above for an Accountancy Flyer. It is supposed to represent being swamped in receipts and numbers while trying to do your own tax return. The flyer offered an accountancy firm to do your tax return instead.

Logo Design

I designed this New Logo Design for my own Graphic Design Business, Watson Consultancy . I design flyers, signage, logos, stationary, point of sale, packaging at competitive rates. If you need a logo designed don't hesitate to contact me. Check out my website at Watson Consultancy.

Photoshop Rendering of an Abacus

I recently designed this abacus in Photoshop. I created the individual parts in Adobe Illustrator, then took the components into Photoshop to add the shadows and wood effect. If you require some Photoshop rendering visit the Watson Consultancy website.
